A modular housing manufacturer, a luxury aviation firm and a glass producer that once teetered on closure received state tax credit assistance Monday for projects expected to create more than 1,000 jobs in Northeast Ohio in the coming years.

MMY US Inc. (MMY), an advanced modular construction company that designs and manufactures innovative building systems for residential housings, today announced the selection of Cleveland to expand its US presence.

A cavernous Cleveland factory that once built the machines that unloaded iron ore from Great Lakes freighters is about to start building houses.

The Wellman-Seaver-Morgan Engineering Company Building on Central Avenue is about to help breathe new life into a Cleveland community.

Ohio has awarded $2.56 million in historic tax credits to the effort to renovate the Wellman- Seaver-Morgan Engineering Company building at 7000 Central Avenue.

The city of Cleveland and the nonprofit Site Readiness for Good Jobs Fund on Tuesday announced the first big deal for the Midline, an effort aimed at reviving manufacturing across parts of the East Side pockmarked by brownfields and long-vacant factories.

A modular housing manufacturer aims to set up shop in the Central neighborhood, bringing a historic factory back to life and creating up to 150 jobs as the business grows.

Together, these announcements reflect a coordinated effort to expand housing production capacity in Cleveland, create quality manufacturing jobs, and activate one of the Midline’s most significant historic industrial assets.

This initiative prioritizes underserved communities, post-disaster recovery zones and municipalities with acute housing shortages.
